Jinx!

I think I have jinxed myself. In one of my Latter post about the Beating these Flying Dutchman Blades take. And I said that I have not broken one yet, due to their durable Strength and Sharpness.

Well, I have done it, I don't know if it was under or over tighten or if it was warn out. My guess is that it was warn out. I make sure the blade makes a Good Ping sound once it's tight.

This Welcome Pattern here that I cut out, well I finished it up on a New blade, I was all the way down to the "O" on the outside cuts to finish this piece up to remove it from the rest of the wood, when POP The blade Snapped.

This blade I was using was a FD-TC #5 Blade, to make it easier to cut my Plywood projects. And it works really Decently. Nice smooth cuts, not much sanding and Not many Blowouts. The only Problem I have once my Project is finished is taking the box tape off the back of the project. With the fine cuts, it wants to pull some of the laminate off the wood.

Not a Very good wood or quality to sell if this wood isn't laminated very well. I may be Switching to Baltic Birch plywood to see if there is a Difference in quality and cut.

Now for a Little Technical Aspect of this Project!

Project Title: Welcome
Project Time: A Little Over A Day (With Interruptions, Company)
Project Materials: Oak Plywood, Printer Paper with Pattern and Box Tape
Project Overall: Not for the Beginner and not good for Cheap Wood to save a Dime
Project Rating: Challenging, (8 out of a 10)

I hope you all enjoy the looks of this project, there are some Flaws in the project, but this is what makes it unique and your own!

A Little of This and That Etsy Store!

Come one, Come all, Come check out one and all I have at the "A Little of This and That Etsy Store". Hopefully as my Scroll Sawing Grows, so will my Store.

But only you can make it happen. If you got the time, Come check it out. There are more Christmas Items at the moment then anything, Figured I would get ahead of the Christmas Rush and pump out a few ornaments and Christmas projects that are in the works, to keep my workload down, if there will be any.

I hope that all of my Viewers take the time to view my blog as well as pass it on to others if you think my work is good and worth the effort.

Alot of time and effort has gone into my projects, some are basic some are complex, but they are my projects and alot of elbow grease goes into my hobby to bring everyone that's watching and keeps tabs on my Projects eager to come back for more.

Sooner or later, there will be some custom content added for your veiwing pleasure and possible added to my Store. So come back and Share with your friends and family your point of view of my little blog and my little store!

Halloween Lantern Part 4 of 5

The Cat vs. The Eye. Who will Stare who Down? Find out who s bigger then who in the next stare down, Coming to you at your nearest Crafters made possible by Handi Productions and Crafts!

Lets move on Shall we? Me and Betty are Crafting this Lantern, She has just finished her Cat, my Eye was already finished, so I was waiting on her to Finish up The Cat.

Now that we are more then 1/2 way done with this Project, here is the next Step! I will trim off A Total of 1/2" from 2 Panels, 1/4" on the left and 1/4" on the right. As Each Panel are 8 1/2" Wide. Triming down 2 Panels at 1/2" will give each panel 8". This will give me an Exact 8"x8" Under Panel, as the Base.

The only other Alternative would to, Cut Finger Joints in all Panels, Still giving me 8x8 Base panel, But instead of doing so, I've just decided at this point to use butt-joints with small 3/4" Nails. The Reason, My Table Saw doesn't have a Miter Gage Slot on either side of the Blade, This would prove almost impossible Free Hand, and the time invested in such a Simple project, not to mention, it's getting colder threw the nights, and my Shop (Garage) isn't Heated, and I would need my Life Size Heat Rock to keep me warm while I work.

So we are going with butt-joints with this project. After this is done, All insides of the panels will be Painted Orange, so when the Candles are Lit, It will give off an orange Glow, as if it was a real Pumpkin, Then all Panels on the outside will be Painted Black. So no Light can be reflected off of it, so it gives it the feel of a Void space lit up from no where.

So my Next post, Will include the Panels painted and put together as the final Step in this 5 Part Project. I will be looking forward to all of your comments!

Halloween Lantern Part 2 of 5

Moving right along it seems, pretty quickly. Just got the first 2 panels done, Sanded down with my Orbital Sander from Craftsman. Not a real good sanding Job, but hey, they are gonna be painted.

As much as I hate Painted wood, This will be beneficial to the project.

So here is the First 2 Panels we've done so far, Sanded, but not painted.

Following the next post, I will be posting the next 2 Panels that will be cut and Sanded.

Halloween Lantern Part 1 of 5

I have Temporarily Decided to Postpone the Antique Calendar Project, Just because of Halloween coming up pretty quickly, within a few weeks.

So to take the Place of the Antique Calendar, I've decided to do something a little Halloweenish. A little Scroll Saw Project.

Similar to a Pumpkin Carving, But with a Scroll Saw, and no messy Hands to clean afterwords, just pants to Dust off!

The idea behind this project, is to create a 4 sided box, with Halloween themed Patterns, Kind of like a Lantern with Scary faces, witches, black cats, etc. Here are 2 Patterns I've chosen so far, for 2 sides, once decided on the other 2 Sides, there will be another post, and then a 3rd post to show off the finished product.

Hope you enjoy the Patterns, and the Finished Project afterwords! My old lady is learning to use the Scroll Saw herself, so she is helping with this project to give her some experience with using the Scroll Saw, She has CP, so it's a little harder for her to do, but this will her with coordination and hand exercises.

Antique Calendar!

Hello everyone.

Here is a Picture of a Calendar that was left here at my Home when we bought it. This will be the next project that I Will be working on once I get my Scroll saw working again.

I'm just going to replicate it with a few little modifications. For example. The Day, Month and Year will have to be done by hand and Stencils, The paper used in the calendar are thicker then standard paper, and the Names of the Month and Week were printed on, I don't have the stuff to Print the items on that long of paper.

So There will be Some modifications done to make it Doable! I don't know the creator of this Calendar or anything, So I'm not taking credit for the original Craftsmanship.

Enjoy the Picture! Sorry bout my Table lol, Not as clean as my Shop is at the moment lol!

Jewerly Box

Well, here is pretty much my first attempt at a Semi descent Jewelry Box.

This box is about 6 or 7 years old. I Couldn't tell you what kind of stain, nor the Dimensions are, because I Also done this project on the fly.

All I Can remember and tell you about, is I Lined it with red felt, put decorative Hinges on it.

The top, well it has a 45 Degree all the way around the top to indicate a raised panel. And a Dado on the bottom to receive the bottom.

Hope you Enjoy it, I will eventually get around to finishing it, I think I'm going to Re sand it, Re stain it and then Poly it this time. Then I Will re post the Finished product!

Sorry about the Photo Alignment, They are not wanting to cooperate with me this evening.
